A Healthy Start. At Parkview Academy we focus on the whole child. Good health and nutrition are key to your child's success. The tuition includes a nutritious hot lunch and mid-morning and afternoon snacks prepared in our kitchen.
Two types of early childhood education. Both Traditional and Montessori programs are phonics-based. Children are introduced to the sounds of the alphabet at a very young age, an experience that leads to early reading and writing.
Traditional Early Childhood Education. Our traditional classrooms are center-based and have language and math centers. Children work daily in the classroom centers. They also have scheduled time to develop fine motor skills through tracing activities and art projects. Curriculum worksheets assist them in following directions and furthering the work done in centers.
All of our traditional classrooms follow weekly detailed lesson plans posted each week by the entry door. This planning allows parents to work along with their children at home on the same concepts introduced in class.
Montessori Education. The Montessori method of education was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori and is based on the use of concrete, specially designed learning materials manipulated by the children in the learning process. These materials help the child to develop hand and eye coordination, concentration and early reading, writing and math skills.
The teacher works with each child independently rather than in groups, enabling the children to work at their own pace. Our Montessori class is multi-age with 3 to 5 year-old children in the same classroom. In this type of environment the older children develop leadership skills. The younger children perform on higher levels inspired by the older children's works.
Currently, Montessori education is the fastest growing method of teaching young children in the metroplex.
